Amee-nah was born with a clubfoot. Unable to run with other Zuni boys whose job it
was to care for sheep herds spread out for miles on the rocky hills and mesas,
Amee-nah was shunned. His name Amee-nah meaning "lazy" was given to him by his
peers. When Amee-nah feels the lowest his only friend takes it upon himself to find
help for the boy with the clubfoot. Through the Zuni mission school, Coach K, a
compassionate teacher and coach, arranges for Amee-nah to have corrective surgery.
Not long after recovery from the surgery Amee-nah is chosen to take his injured
friend's place in the biggest "stick race" of the year. Now the boy who was teased
and shunned for most of his life will have to run the race of his life. Filled with the
desire to pay back his friend for his love and kindness Amee-nah decides to give all
he has to win a race of over twenty miles against tremendous odds.
AMEE-NAH:ZUNI BOY RUNS THE RACE OF HIS LIFE is a moving story and
an inspiration to all young boys and the friendships they make during their young lives.
